Food Pantry

Union Avenue United Methodist Church Food Pantry, also known as ME Food Pantry, is a nonprofit organization with a tradition of assisting families fight hunger that began in the 1940s, and has been a partner of The Chicago Food Bank since 1998.

We are here to serve every one in the community and welcome all who at risk of hunger.  The ME Food Pantry relies on the help of our volunteers to serve 350 families or 1,000 individuals a month.

Our clients include  singles, couples, families, disabled, working, unemployed, and veterans from our community.  You don’t need to receive welfare or food stamp program to receive help and offer TANF items if you are qualified.  We ask that clients live with in the boundaries and limit visits to once per month.

We welcome compassionate volunteers including students fulfilling their service learning requirements, individuals, groups, and corporate volunteers.  You can volunteer at our food pantry, or work at the Chicago Food Bank and earn credit for our agency, Union Avenue UMC Food Pantry #A0063.

Donations are gladly accepted and we invite you to make a direct deposit to our Chicago Food Bank [account],  view our Amazon [wish list], or make a check payable to the Union Avenue UMC Food Pantry and mail it to our address below.
